Foxton Locks WOW volunteers build a canal
Jenny Bunnag took part in leading family activities outside the Foxton Canal Museum on Bank Holiday Monday
I had fun at Foxton Locks this weekend!
David Payne, Maureen Tebbutt, Gillian Diaper and I all took part in running children’s activities outside the Foxton Canal Museum on Bank Holiday Monday.
It was quite cold and windy when we got to Foxton Locks to set up the WOW activities, but despite the weather over 100 people took part in the Build a Canal activity and making Model Boats. Many parents loved getting their hands in the sand and having a go too!
The Build a Canal activity is one of three WOW resources we use during our school classroom visits. It’s great fun and explains very simply why and how canals were built and the boats that used them to carry cargoes around the country. It’s very hands-on and suitable for a variety of age groups.
We also handed out FREE Stay SAFE near water booklets and took bookings for School Visits to Foxton Locks in September.
