WOW at Education Show 2010

WOW took to the stage at the recent Education Show staged in Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre – with over 15,000 teachers

The British Waterways, The Waterways Trust and Inland Waterways Association partnership showcased its comprehensive range of new resources which are engaging young people across the UK’s waterway network. The WOW exhibition promoted our hands-on Resource Boxes, bringing the history and heritage of our canals to life; the new ‘Building & Carrying’ Topic Pack and the Water Safety booklet promoting the safe enjoyment of our canals and rivers. “Over the three days we were inundated with visits from teachers and education officers seeking support and guidance for planning successful visits to their local waterways. These visits link directly to the government’s Learning Outside the Classroom initiative and are growing in popularity. In fact visits to the WOW website were up by 19% in the week following the show.” said Annette Simpson, BW's Education & Interpretation Manager.
