New Bath locks trail

Find out more about the Kennet & Avon canal in the city of Bath

If you’re visiting the beautiful city of Bath then have a go at the new WOW trail which follows the towpath of the Kennet & Avon Canal alongside the locks through Bath.

The trail starts next to Sydney Gardens close to the Holburne Museum and takes you on a journey back in time to 1850 to discover more about the canal. Look at designer bridges and smart houses. Decide why there is a hole in the roof of the tunnel. Find out how deep is the scary looking Bath Deep Lock. Discover how Wash House Bridge got its name and what the strange leaning tall chimney was used for. Learn all this and more as the Kennet & Avon Canal joins with the River Avon.
