Stourport steps up to the challenge
Volunteers attended a training day this week in preperation for a brand new education programme
On Monday 5th July 2010 volunteers gathered at Bewdley Museum to receive training from Katie Donlon from the WOW team in how to deliver brand new workshops. The workshops have been specially designed as part of a project to regenerate and encourage visitors to the Stourport Basins. There are four workshops 'Boating Families', 'Build a Canal', 'Build a Lock' and 'Stourport on Severn Basins'. Schools will be able to book on to a trip and spend half the day at Stourport Basins doing workshops, having a visit onto an old working boat and a guided walk around the area. Then the school will travel to Bewdley Museum where they complete their exciting day of activites with further workshops. The workshops include handling items and some beautiful handcarved models. The volunteers are very excited to get started and help schools learn more about this historically rich area.
