BT Secondees say farewell to BW
Sarah French and Angela Blanton are returning to BT after a 12 month secondment.
‘The last year with British Waterways has been both enjoyable and a great learning experience for us. We were welcomed into the Education and Volunteering teams doing mostly admin support but have also had the opportunity to get out and about helping at recruitment events.
We have benefited from fantastic support from both teams from day one and have learnt new skills, such as website admin, and broadened some of our existing skills on outlook and excel
Some of the highlights of our time with BW have been meeting with volunteers and potential volunteers at meet and greet events, volunteer recruitment fairs and lock keeper open days. We also had a fabulous time joining the working boat volunteers along the Birmingham Canal Navigation on Children in need day. We have been amazed at the numbers of applicants for the Volunteer Lock Keeper and Towpath Access Survey roles and have been busy processing the applications. The enthusiasm of the team and volunteers is infectious.
We are sad to be leaving but feel privileged to have had the opportunity to work with some very dedicated people’.
